The Tuk Tuk shuttle derives its income from advertising, in particular during peak season and when large events take place in Ballito. As a free shuttle service, huge exposure is enjoyed by the advertisers as the brightly coloured Tuk Tuks are seen all over town, day and night during busy periods creating constant awareness.

An income of R15,000 once off is easily achieved from a single advertiser during a specific event which could last just a few days. The advertiser will pay the amount agreed upon and thereafter, the only costs incurred are fuel which is nominal.

The drivers are usually students and do not get paid a salary, but rely on tips which have proven to be quite lucrative!
